CCTV CAMERA INSPECTION REPORT

Dear Mrs Smith,

Site Location – Honeysuckle House, London Road, BR9 0AB

Further to your instruction our engineers attended the above site location to carry out a CCTV camera inspection of the drainage in the area of the front bay which has suffered recent movement – please see area of concern shown on the attached diagram.

The following drain runs which are in the vicinity of the movement have been inspected and our findings are as follows – Commence survey from Surface Water Manhole 1 upstream. 100mm earthenware pipework. Duty surface water system.

Conclusions & Recommendations

It was apparent from the CCTV camera inspection that the drainage is in a very poor condition having broken pipework, multiple fracturing and heavy root damage. Any or all of the above defects could cause or contribute to the movement and remedial action is required.

We would also point out that due to the level of damage and particularly the root intrusion it is probable that the cost of the repairs will be covered under the ‘Accidental Damage’ clause of your insurance policy and we suggest that you contact your insurers to commence the claim. The following recommendations will render the affected drainage watertight, but your insurer’s structural engineer may suggest that the movement mentioned is monitored for a short period before deciding upon any underpinning or super structure repairs.

Our recommendations are therefore as follows –

  1. To carry out hydro-powered mechanical root cutting to remove root growth followed by concentrated high pressure water jetting to flush through cut roots, debris and solidified grease deposits and leave the pipework clear and free flowing.
  2. To excavate and replace the defective rainwater gully upstream of Surface Water Manhole 1 using PVC-u roddable gully, making all necessary connections. To also excavate below the position of the gully to remove any softened ground and small voids and replace with compacted dry mix concrete to consolidate the area. Upon completion to carry out structural soft felt lining through to Surface Water Manhole 1 to seal the pipework to a watertight condition.
  3. To carry out structural soft felt lining from Surface Water Manhole 1 through to Surface Water Manhole 2 to seal the pipework to a watertight condition.
  4. To carry out structural patch lining of the defective section at 4.3m upstream of Manhole A (towards Manhole B) to seal the pipework to a watertight condition.
  5. To carry out structural soft felt lining between Manhole A and Manhole K to seal the pipework to a watertight condition.
  6. To backfill all excavations in compacted layers and reinstate, if possible, all surfaces to match existing.
  7. To remove all excess spoil and materials from site and leave clean and tidy.
